How To Increase The Performance Of Graphics In Windows XP

vice Normally, Windows XP is enabled to display some fancy gadgets such as shadows, and the ability for images to gradually fade in and out. This can take a significant amount of resources and slow things down a bit. This short tutorial will help you to disable some of these Windows defaults and free up some resources. Begin by closing or minimizing all applications that are open. Find the icon on your desktop named "My Computer". Hold the mouse button over this icon, then click with the right mouse button. Choose "Properties", and the dialog below should appear.

Choose the tab called "Advanced", then click the "Settings" button to the right of "Performance". The following dialog should appear

Click the button "Adjust For Best Performance", then all the check marks in the boxes should disappear. If you prefer, you can check the two boxes shown above. Click "Apply", then "OK". You're done.
